Let's face it, guys love to go mad when they are on their stag do! After all, this will represent one of their last moments of freedom, and so the drink will flow freely and the behaviour may be a little over zealous, to say the least.
This is all very well and while most Brits would be prepared to accept some rowdy behaviour, you have to remember that when you travel to other countries, the same cannot automatically be expected. Over the past few years, I have heard of a number of problems arising on a Scotland stag do and this short article aims at making sure you bear a few points in mind.
The biggest issue you need to consider is the religion of the country you are travelling to. If the country is Islamic, you should always moderate your behaviour and be mindful of the fact that alcohol is prohibited for people that are Muslem. Dubai has proven to be a popular choice for people on stag dos and this country can prove to be downright dangerous for stags.
Even countries closer to home may not be as laid-back toward stags as you first thought. Europeans, in general, do not approve of the British drinking culture and news stories have come out of countries like Latvia recently whereby a person on a stag do was charged with assaulting a police officer (something the defendant vehemently denies!).
By all means have fun on your stag do, but remember at all times that foreign destinations are not the same as Blighty. Keep a curb on things and do not do anything that you feel may cause offence to others.
Even the biggest stag destinations will not tolerate stags that behave badly. The last thing you want is to face the local criminal justice system; this can transpire to be far more arbitrary than our own (and ours is far from perfect!). Stay safe and moderate the behaviour and this should mean you spend the perfect stag weekend away.
